SMW Rules

As part of our efforts to circular economy we offer recycled products to close the loop. The segregated wet waste comes back as rich nutrient compost or vermicompost while the dry waste ending up at our units are further segregated into multiple streams based on the recyclable ability and ends up as products.

Producers need to put in place a collection scheme for packaging materials waste.
NO wastes shall be DISPOSED OFF on the streets, public spaces or vacant sites.
Bulk generators need to SEGREGATE and handle their waste themselves or engage the services of Greater Chennai Corporation EMPANELLED VENDORS on mutually agreed terms.

State Law: Tamil Nadu

All Bulk Waste Generators (BWGs) must handle their waste onsite.
BWGs can avail service of only the Empanelled vendors of Urban Local Bodies.
As per Chennai Solid Waste Management Bylaws 2019, residents and shopkeepers found burning garbage in their own premises will have to pay a fine of ₹500 and ₹2,000 respectively. Furthermore, any resident who dumps garbage in a public place and burns it will have to pay a fine of ₹1,000.
